2008 Public Investors' Financial Symposium

Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias welcomes public investors to 2007 fall symposium in Rosemont.

Dear Public Investors,
It is my pleasure to invite you to the 10th annual Public Investors’ Financial Symposium May 20 and 21, 2008 at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel and Conference Center in Springfield. Our 10th anniversary conference comes at a time of economic uncertainty in Illinois and the nation. As public investors, we must strive to protect taxpayer dollars, invest wisely and generate consumer confidence through our sound choices.
This year’s agenda is designed to help you do your best work despite less than desirable market forces. Financial experts will provide an overview of various finance and accounting topics, offer ideas on effective budget ordinances and feature the costs and benefits of going green. Chris Mooney, a professor of political studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield, will be our luncheon speaker on the second day of the symposium.
This conference is geared toward individuals who are new to public investing and as well as seasoned professionals who want to keep abreast of the latest trends. The Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association and Township Officials of Illinois are offering continuing education credits for those who complete the program. Also, the Certified County Officials program will offer credits for qualifying sessions.
Best of all, we offer this symposium at no cost. Attendees must pay for their own accommodations but are eligible for a discounted rate if reservations are made at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel by April 30. Registration for the symposium is limited and must be received by May 13. I look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,
Alexi Giannoulias
