If you live in one of seven eligible counties, and your home was damaged by the weekend's heavy rain and flooding, help could be on the way.

The state of Illinois is offering low-interest loans to home and business owners in Kane, DuPage, Will, DeKalb, Cook, Grundy and LaSalle counties, according to State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias. Under the Opportunity Illinois: Disaster Recovery loan program, the treasurer's office obtains below-market interest rates for storm victims in declared disaster areas.

Those wanting more information on obtaining a low-interest loan from the state should call the Disaster Recovery Hotline at (866) 523-0641.

U.S. Rep. Bill Foster also announced Monday that his office is available to assist constituents who need help recovering from the weekend floods. Foster's Batavia office, at 27 N. River St., can be reached by calling (630) 406-1114 or toll-free (866) 324-6128.
